My new portable strobe setup.
Using a Nikon SB-24 I built a portable strobe stand a la strobist.blogspot.com.
NIKON D70, 18mm, 1/60s, f/13, iso200

I bought it. Pretty inexpensive. Less than $150. < $100 if you already have a flash. I posted some shots on flickr while I was messing around with it last night.
Don’t forget to zoom that flash out to a 24mm throw when using and umbrella. You are only using the center of the umbrella as it is now. Which you can easily see from your test photo.

Looks sweet. Did you buy it? Or rent? Don’t forget to post the resulting photos!!!
